BRAIN EATIN' ZOMBIE BABIES

Here is the premiere episode of my new web-show, BRAIN EATIN' ZOMBIE BABIES.
The plan is to release 2 mini-episodes per week for the next 15 weeks. Can we build an audience? Will this go viral? Like a great man once said - nobody knows...

Wish me luck!

  1. I'm sorry, but I didn't really like it. It's just one joke, and not a very funny one at that. I've seen it done many times before in Family Guy. Still, I know you're a good writer and look forward to future episodes, I just hope they're better than this. Sorry. I mean to say this in the nicest way possible.

    Hey Michael,
Thanks for your note. Feel free to skip the rest of the series. Something tells me that you're not going to like it.

There is a well thought out rationale behind "Brain Eatin' Zombie Babies". The single-joke skit has a long history going back to vaudeville and beyond. Comedians would come out to entertain the audience during scene/costume changes. It's good, honest storytelling at its simplest. Comedy Haiku.

On a more recent scale - The Simpsons began as short commercial bumpers on The Tracy Ullman show in the 1980's. I remember them quite well - (They're on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isiJaNdSvsY) - They were one-joke wonders, so I'm in good company.

More character development will happen as viewers watch the ensuing episodes. Not much more - but some.

So what does it have in its favor? Decent production values. The show looks good. I would rather do something short and very well, than to drag it out to four boring minutes.

Its cute. The puppets will appeal to the target audience (12 to 15 year olds). Alyson Court who plays "Mom" is funny, talented, a wealth of information - and comes with a cult following from her role as "Claire Redfield" in the Resident Evil games.

Will "Zombie Babies" be a success? Who knows? But its fun and the reaction overall seems to be positive. That's all that I can ask for.

  3. I would like to see the baby eating someone's brains, or a situation like a hospital where the doctor tells the mother that her baby had some complications, when he turns away we see Zombie baby clinging on to his lab coat and then eats the doctor's brains. Then have the mother cradle the monstrous baby.

Or maybe have another mother walk by and she comments on how ugly the baby is. Later we follow this mother into her home where Zombie baby lies in wait on top of a bookshelf and leaps onto the woman's head devours her brains. Then the baby returns to Mama.

I'm with you on this idea Steve, I just want to see the baby eating brains in a interesting situation.

  4. We are going to get to that. I'm building up to it. The first series is 'softer' than the stuff that's to come. Trust me, there will be brain eating. But it will be FUNNY brain eating.

  5. That's the thing about web videos, you kinda have to start with stronger stuff first or people won't be interested the next time around.

  6. We've started with a strong funny joke - and this series is all funny stuff - but not as gross. The next set of 10 will feature more gore; brain eating, etc. Also, we're getting out of the house - the beach, the subway, etc.

What we DON'T want to do is present the Zombie Baby in a way that's expected.

The 3rd set will be more FX driven jokes.
